AusNet Services digital meters, also know as ‘smart meters’ record electricity usage by the half-hour and transmit this information back to us four times a day. As a result, we’re better able to monitor and manage your supply, and respond more quickly if there’s an outage.
There are 2 ways you can access your meter data:
MyHomeEnergy is available to residential and small business customers within AusNet Services electricity network.
It is a free web portal that displays data from your smart meter in a graphical way.
It allows you to extract your data in a format compatible with online comparison tools such as Victorian Energy Compare.

If you do not have a smart meter, you do not need metering data for Victorian Energy Compare or are an authorised customer representative, you can request up to 2 years of data through the Metering Data Portal.
This request form allows you to request metering data for the purposes of understanding your energy usage.
Although digital meters are usually read remotely, AusNet Services will always need physical access at times for maintenance and auditing purposes. To assist with this, we ask that you provide clear and safe access to your meter at all times. Some helpful tips for maintaining meter access are provided below.
For frequently asked questions and information on how to read your meter, please see the Metering FAQs.
If you are an eligible AusNet Services customer, you may request that the AusNet Services electricity meter at your home be enabled to permit a connection with a ZigBee® Certified and Zigbee® Smart Energy Profile (SEP) in-home device. In home devices can be used to link appliances, or to assist you to better access and monitor your electricity consumption, which may help you better manage your energy usage.
Please note: If you are currently a myHomeEnergy user your myHomeEnergy access will cease upon the connection of your In Home Device.
You can submit a request to AusNet Services for your electricity meter by accessing the online portal.
ZigBee® is a registered trademark of The Zigbee Alliance, Inc.
