Corryong electricity upgrades

Throughout September and October, we’ll be completing 110 maintenance jobs to prepare the Corryong region for bushfire season.

What are we doing?

We’re replacing:

  • power poles
  • cross arms (the horizontal piece that holds the powerlines up)
  • fuses (which can cut power when something goes wrong, like a tree falls on the powerline).

This planned maintenance will help keep the local electricity network safe and reliable and reduce the risk of unplanned power outages in Corryong and surrounding towns.

Planned power outages

To complete the work safely we’ll need to turn the power off a few times to a small number of customers. If your property is impacted, we’ll send you a letter in the mail at least four business days before the outage so you have time to prepare. If you prefer to go paperless, call 1300 360 795 to register for SMS updates on planned outages.

If you are a registered life support customer, please be ready to activate your emergency plan during the outage dates and times. Life support customers can call 1800 818 832 anytime.

Where are these works happening?

The blue dots on the map below show where the maintenance work will be done. There will be traffic management in some of these areas to safely guide people through.

Why does this need to be done before summer?

We regularly inspect our electricity network and maintain the network and vegetation around it. This is especially important before summer arrives and grass and vegetation get dry.

Completing this maintenance now helps keep the electricity network operating safely and reliably.

How can I prepare for a power outage?

Customer and community safety is our top priority - here are some tips to help you prepare:

  • Charge your battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones.
  • Keep some cash on hand in case electronic payment systems go down during an outage.
  • Make sure you can open your garage or gate manually so you can leave your home when the power goes out.
  • If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water.
  • Keep track of any outages on our Outage Tracker
