This month, Inland Rail are upgrading the Short Street Bridge in Broadford and lowering the rail tracks to allow clearance for double-stacked freight trains. We're working with Inland Rail and John Holland to complete the electricity connection to the bridge.
Power outage
To do this work safely, we need to turn your power off twice:
- Thursday 23 October, 8:30am - 4:30pm – so we can install new power poles near existing infrastructure.
- Sunday 26 October, 8:30am - 4:30pm – so we can relocate power to the new location and remove old infrastructure.
We know there’s never a good time to be without electricity and we appreciate your patience during this critical work.
Why is this happening?
Inland Rail is improving how freight moves across Australia, bringing long-term benefits for local communities and regional economies.
In Broadford, the project involves important rail and utility upgrades that will support this national network.
