Seymour energy network upgrades

10 September 2025

AusNet has been working to improve the energy network and power reliability across Seymour.

On Sunday 21 September AusNet will be undertaking planned works and network upgrades across the region.

To undertake this work safely AusNet will need to turn the power off from 8.30am to approximately 4.30pm, impacting around 700 customers.

AusNet General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said these works are essential to maintain a safe and reliable network.

“We’ll be replacing cross arms, which is the horizontal piece on a power pole that holds the lines up, a power pole and over one kilometre of powerlines between Oak Street and Delatite Road.”

“By undertaking multiple jobs at once there will be less planned outages, reducing the impact to customers,” said Mr Young.

Customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.

There will be road closures and traffic detours between 7am and 5pm so these works can be safely undertaken.

“We are undertaking this work on a Sunday to reduce the impact on local businesses and decrease the number of trucks that will need to navigate the road detour with residential traffic.”

“We know that it’s inconvenient to be without electricity so we’re completing this work in one day to minimise the impact on the community.”

“We thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we make these upgrades to the network,” said Mr Young.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for being without power:

  • Charge battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones.
  • If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water.
  • Make sure you can open your garage or fence manually, if they are electric.
  • Fill an esky with ice to keep your food and drinks cool.
  • DO NOT bring outdoor gas appliances inside your home.
  • Keep at least one light on in the house so you know when your electricity is back on.
