Seymour works

On Sunday 21 September network maintenance work was carried out in parts of Seymour resulting in a power outage and traffic detours.

What did we do?

The planned maintenance helped to keep local the electricity network operating smoothly and reduced the risk of unplanned power outages in Seymour.

We replaced:

  • more than 1km of powerline between Oak Street and Delatite Road
  • one power pole
  • five cross arms (the horizontal piece on a power pole that holds the lines up).

We know that there is never a good time to be without power, or to experience traffic disruptions, so we've completed this work all together on one day to minimise the impact of this planned outage on the community.

Traffic changes

There were traffic changes between 7am and 5pm so we could safely complete this work:

  • Oak Street was closed between Anzac Avenue and Wimble Street.
  • Traffic was diverted from Oak Street, down Wimble Street and Delatite Road.
  • The left lane of Anzac Avenue, heading southeast towards Yea, was closed.
  • There was no entry or exit onto Anzac Avenue from Keith Street, Bryce Street, Howe Street or Sinclair Crescent.
  • Access to shops on Anzac Avenue was via Pollard Street.

If you lived on Oak Street or Anzac Avenue where the road and lane closures are, we had traffic management on site to help you enter and exit the area
