Overview
We’re connecting a data centre in Truganina to our existing transmission network.
The underground transmission cable will be built within the road reserves on Cherry Lane, Leakes Road and Fitzgerald Road in Laverton North.
What we’re doing
To connect the data centre, we’re:
- installing a new 220kV underground transmission cable
- building a new 220kV substation at the data centre site
- upgrading the existing 220kV switchyard at Altona Terminal Station
Construction
Construction started in mid-2026. We estimate the above works will be completed in 2027.
Crews will generally work Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. To minimise impacts, there may be some night and weekend works. We’ll let local residents and businesses know in advance of any night or weekend works.
