Point Cook and Werribee augmentation

As a result of continued significant growth around Werribee, Tarneit, and Point Cook, some fringe areas were experiencing an increase of low gas pressures instances, especially during peak demand periods when many customers were needing to use gas at the same time.

By constructing a 1.6km mains reinforcement along Sneydes, and a 1km main reinforcement along Princes Hwy, capacity was significantly increased in these suburbs, as well as providing long term security and reliability of supply.

This project provides a number of benefits to the local community:

A gas pipe

  • avoid large pressure drops at the fringe suburbs of the network below our regulatory obligations

  • maintain supply to customers during peak winter conditions

  • To continue to provide adequate capacity to connect new customers to the rapidly developing region
