Overview
AusNet was engaged by Recurrent Energy to deliver the transmission connection infrastructure for the 171MW Carwarp Solar Farm. The project included construction of the new Carwarp Terminal Station and associated works to connect the solar farm to Victoria’s 220kV transmission network and enable renewable energy to be supplied to the National Electricity Market (NEM).

What did this involve?
- Designed, supplied, constructed, installed and commissioned the new Carwarp Terminal Station.
- Connected the new terminal station into the existing Red Cliffs Terminal Station to Kiamal Terminal Station 220kV transmission line.
- Diverted the existing single-circuit 220 kV transmission line to form the T-connection into Carwarp Terminal Station.
- Installed a new T65A cut-in tower and associated transmission line works.
- Completed protection, control and communications system modifications at the existing Red Cliffs and Kiamal terminal stations.
- Delivered the connection with an early capacity of 150 MVA.
What were the outcomes?
The new transmission connection enables the 171MW Carwarp Solar Farm to export renewable electricity to the NEM through Victoria’s 220kV network. By providing the infrastructure required to connect a major renewable energy project, the project supports the continued integration of renewable generation and Australia’s transition to a cleaner energy future.
AusNet delivered the terminal station and connection works on time and on budget, working collaboratively with Recurrent Energy, our delivery partners and civil subcontractors.
