Yackandandah energy network upgrades

28 July 2025

Over the last 12 months AusNet has been working to improve the energy network and power reliability in Yackandandah and surrounding areas.

As part of these improvements, on Thursday 31 July we need to turn the power off from 9am to 4pm to undertake work, which will impact around 2,300 AusNet customers.

AusNet General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said these works will improve reliability in the area.

“We’ve invested in several upgrades to replace aging powerlines and poles and to improve low voltage issues for some customers.”

“We will also be upgrading 22kV fuses, installing a new voltage regulator in Baranduda, and undertaking maintenance works on powerlines and poles in the region,” said Mr Young.

These works will also help with bushfire preparedness to protect the community ahead of summer.

“By undertaking multiple jobs at once there will be less outages, reducing the impact on our customers,” he added.

Back-up generation will be supplied to Yackandandah Primary, Dederang Primary and Osbornes Flat Primary School on the day so schools are not affected by the power outage.

Customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.
