AusNet has been working to improve the energy network and power reliability across Venus Bay and surrounding areas.
On Sunday 14 September AusNet will be undertaking planned works and network upgrades in Venus Bay, Tarwin Lower, Pound Creek and Middle Tarwin.
To undertake this work safely AusNet will need to turn the power off from 8.30am to approximately 4.30pm, impacting around 2500 customers.
AusNet General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said these works are part of our regular inspection program and are essential to maintain a safe and reliable network.
“We’ll be completing maintenance works on the powerlines across Venus Bay. These works will also help with bushfire preparedness to help protect the community ahead of summer,” said Mr Young.
Customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.
“We know its inconvenient to be without electricity so we’re completing this work on one day to minimise the impact on the community.”
“We thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we make these upgrades to the network,” said Mr Young.
Here are some tips to help you prepare for being without power:
- Charge battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones.
- If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water.
- Make sure you can open your garage or fence manually, if they are electric.
- Fill an esky with ice to keep your food and drinks cool.
- DO NOT bring outdoor gas appliances inside your home.
- Keep at least one light on in the house so you know when your electricity is back on.
Life support customers should be ready to activate their emergency plan and can call our priority line anytime on 1800 818 832.
Note: Planned maintenance works are subject to late cancellations if weather poses a risk.
