South Gippsland energy network upgrades

2 December 2025

AusNet has been working to improve the energy network and power reliability in South Gippsland.

On Saturday 6 December AusNet will be undertaking maintenance works at the Leongatha Zone Substation.

To do this work safely AusNet will need to turn the power off to 3160 customers for two short outages, one from 8.00-8.30am and one from 4-6pm.

AusNet General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.

“We’re doing this work now to help keep the network safe and reliable throughout the coming summer and bushfire season,” said Mr Young.

“We know that it’s inconvenient to be without electricity and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we make these important upgrades to the network,” said Mr Young.

To stay updated put your postcode into the Outage Tracker.

What you can do to prepare for power outages: Customers can amplify their prep with these simple steps:

A – Always have a power outage plan and an outage kit ready during outages or extreme weather.

M – Mobile and email shared with your electricity retailer so we can send you SMS and email updates during an outage.

P – Practice using our Outage Tracker, so you know how to get information and updates during an outage.

If you’re a life support customer, make sure your emergency plan is up to date and ready to action if the power goes out.
