Gippsland energy network upgrades

25 August 2025

AusNet has been working to improve the energy network and power reliability across Gippsland.

This month AusNet will be undertaking planned works and network upgrades throughout Loch Sport, Golden Beach, Paradise Beach, Dutson, Duston Downs, Longford and Seacombe.

To undertake this work safely AusNet will need to turn the power off from 8am to approximately 4pm on Saturday 30 August, impacting around 3,000 customers.

AusNet General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said these works are essential to maintain a safe and reliable network.

“We’ll be replacing poles and powerlines and undertaking other general maintenance works.

“These works will also help with bushfire preparedness to protect the community ahead of summer,” said Mr Young.

AusNet has planned a number of different maintenance activities during the same outage window. By undertaking multiple jobs at once there will be less planned outages overall, reducing the impact to customers.

Customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.

Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  • Some heating systems may not work if the power is out. Close off rooms that you’re not using so the heat stays in the room you are using.
  • If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water.
  • Fill an esky with ice in to keep your food and drinks cold.
  • Charge your battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones.

Life support customers should be ready to activate their emergency plan and can call our priority line anytime on 1800 818 832.

“We know that it’s inconvenient to be without electricity, and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we make these important upgrades to the network,” said Mr Young.
