Energy network upgrades for Drouin and Longwarry

10 November 20215

AusNet has been working to improve the energy network and power reliability in Longwarry and Drouin.

On Monday 24 November AusNet will be upgrading network equipment and undertaking pole replacement works in the region.

To undertake this work safely, AusNet will need to turn the power off for 1,000 customers in Drouin from 8:00am to 4:00pm. In addition, around 2,700 customers in Drouin and Longwarry will experience two short outages, one in the morning between 7:00am and 8:00am, and another in the late afternoon between 5:15pm and 6:15pm.

AusNet General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said these works are essential to maintain a safe and reliable network.

“We’re doing this work now to help keep the network safe and reliable throughout the coming summer and bushfire season,” said Mr Young.

Customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for power outages:

  • Charge your battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones.
  • Fill an esky with ice to keep your food and drinks cold.
  • If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water. If you have an electric gate or garage, make sure you know how to manually open and close it.

Life support customers should be ready to activate their emergency plan and can call our priority line on 1800 818 832.

“We know that it’s inconvenient to be without electricity and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we make these important upgrades to the network,” said Mr Young.
