Energy network maintenance works underway in Gippsland

22 June 2026

AusNet is undertaking maintenance works to improve reliability for customers in Loch Sport, Golden Beach, Paradise Beach, Dutson, Dutson Downs, Longford, Seacombe and Waratah Bay.

To complete the works safely, a planned power outage will be required on Thursday 2 July between 8.30am and 3.00pm, impacting 3,000 AusNet customers.

AusNet’s General Manager Network Operations & Delivery, Ross Young, said the maintenance works are part of ongoing effort to improve long-term reliability.

“We’re proactively maintaining and strengthening the network to reduce the risk of unexpected outages and keep power flowing to homes and businesses,” said Mr Young.

The works include targeted maintenance on power poles in Loch Sport and surrounding areas. Crews will also safely remove and rehome two bee colonies that have established a home inside power poles in Longford and Dutson Down.

“We know that it’s inconvenient to be without electricity and we thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we undertake this work,” said Mr Young.

Customers affected will have already received a notification from AusNet about the planned outage.

Here are some tips to prepare to be without power:

  • Charge your battery packs so they're ready to power your mobile phones.
  • Fill an esky with ice to keep your food and drinks cold.
  • If you have an electric water pump, stock up on bottled water.
  • Check on your neighbours to make sure they’re OK, especially if they’re vulnerable or elderly.
  • Life support customers, please be ready to activate your emergency plan. Call our priority line anytime on 1800 818 832.
