AusNet is prioritising power restoration for homes and businesses in bushfire-affected regions.
With active fires still burning, we still don’t have access to all parts of our network, making recovery efforts very difficult. We will continue to work with emergency agencies to gain safe access to areas where the fire has passed through so that we can assess damage to power infrastructure and repair or rebuild the network. The rebuild may still take some time to complete.
There are currently around 3,400 bushfire-affected homes, farms and businesses in the AusNet network without power.
We have established a dedicated Bushfire Support Line (1300 561 171) for affected customers. We encourage people to contact us as they gain access to their properties or to ask any questions.
We are investigating potential for mobile generators to be situated in some of the worst impacted communities where we might not be able to restore mains power for some time. This includes the Corryong township, which will be providing power later today.
AusNet’s Emergency Management Mobile Assistance Vehicles (EMMAs) will be in the community to support fire affected communities in the days ahead. They will be able to provide information and support, help people charge their devices and to access the internet to check in with family and friends. Details will be published on AusNet’s Facebook page.
Customers can continue to report any faults to 13 17 99. We ask that people please stay clear of any damaged infrastructure or powerlines for their own safety.
As we repair and rebuild the network over the coming days and weeks, AusNet will remain focussed on supporting impacted Victorian communities throughout the recovery process.
