Community groups in the Alpine Shire could share in $20,000 as part of a program offered by AusNet.
AusNet, which operates the electricity network in the Alpine Shire, will award grants of up to $3000 to local not-for-profit organisations for eligible community projects.
The ‘Energising Your Community’ development program will accept applications from Monday, 16 October 2017.
AusNet’ Customer and Community Manager, Craig Velt, said AusNet was delighted to open the program to help deliver projects within the Alpine Shire.
“Empowering the communities we supply electricity to is important at AusNet, which is why we established this program,” Mr Velt said.
“The grants can help organisations improve social wellbeing, deliver community projects or perhaps pay for much-needed equipment or renovations for groups to continue offering services that are vital to local families.
“Our community development programs have helped not-for-profit organisations tackle the challenges their communities face for almost 10 years.
“Applying for a grant is easy and we encourage all eligible groups to consider sending an application as soon as possible.”
Alpine Shire Council Mayor, Ron Janas was delighted for the council to partner with AusNet to offer the program.
“As a community, we have a proud history of volunteer run community groups and organisations providing invaluable local services,” Cr Janas said.
“These volunteers work hard to support the success of emergency and community services, music groups, sports and recreational clubs.
”Having access to grants to buy equipment to progress projects or deliver services will benefit not just these groups, but the wider community, and we thank AusNet for this opportunity.”
Applications open Monday, 16 October 2017 and close 5pm, Friday 17 November 2017. Application forms and guidelines are available on our Sponsorships and donations page.
