The Victorian transmission network is referred to as Declared Shared Network (DSN). AusNet is the Declared Transmission System Operator (DTSO) for the majority of the DSN in Victoria.
Unlike other jurisdictions of Australia, VicGrid performs some of the responsibilities carried out by other Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSP) whilst managing the connections process.
From 1 November 2025, VicGrid assumed some responsibilities previously managed by AEMO for Victoria.
Below provides an overview of the role performed by VicGrid and AusNet for the Victorian connections process.
