Public lighting

We’re responsible for maintaining public lighting assets across our electricity distribution network in accordance with the Essential Services Commission’s Public Lighting Code.

We maintain 164,000 streetlights – one streetlight for every five customers – and we’re committed to providing the highest standard of service to councils, VicRoads and the local community.

Report a faulty streetlight

To report a faulty streetlight, select ‘streetlight fault’ in the dropdown menu on our Contact us page.

Guaranteed service level payment for delays in streetlight repairs

If you tell us about a faulty streetlight and we don’t repair it within two working days, you may be eligible to receive $25. This compensation comes from our Guaranteed Service Levels (GSL). To be eligible, you must be the first to report it and the streetlight must be:

  • within our electricity network
  • next to your home or business.

For more information, see Compensation and service standards.

Access to public lighting data

We’re currently developing a self-service portal to make it easy for our customers to get access to public lighting data.

In the meantime, you can request public lighting information by emailing customersupport@ausnetservices.com.au.
