Christmas and New Year service updates for retailers

Plan ahead for service changes during the December - January holiday period.

Here’s what you need to know about changes to our connection and metering services between Friday 19 December 2025 and Friday 2 January 2026.

During this time, only critical staff will be available, and some services will be limited. Please share this information with your operational teams so they can plan ahead.


Electricity

Key cut-off dates for New Connections

To help us manage the busy lead-up to Christmas and New Year, please submit New Connection Applications by these dates:

  • Truck appointment requests: by close of business Friday 21 November 2025.
  • New Connection Applications received in AusNet's Energy Connect Portal by Wednesday 3 December 2025.
  • We usually connect new customers within 10 business days after we receive the service order, site readiness confirmation and all paperwork. This may take longer due to higher volumes in December.

Gas

Key cut-off dates for New Connections

Here’s how our metering services will operate over the holiday period:

  • Metering requests for Disconnection or Reconnections: by 3.00pm Wednesday 17 December 2025
  • AML: closed Thursday 11 December 2025 to Monday 5 January 2026
  • RML: business as usual
  • Special reading: business as usual, except on public holidays
  • Cyclic reading: business as usual following our Meter Reading Schedule

Information for shippers

We will review shipper requests for both domestic and industrial/commercial sites on a case-by-case basis.

Any new shipper requests received in December may not receive a response until January 2026.


Public holidays

Our offices will be closed on the following dates:

Thursday 25 December 2025 - Christmas Day

Friday 26 December 2025 - Boxing Day

Thursday 1 January 2026 - New Year’s Day
