Richmond Terminal Station

As the owner and operator of the Richmond Terminal Station in Mary Street, we initiated works in 2012 to upgrade this facility.

As part of our ongoing commitment to the safe and reliable supply of electricity, we will be replacing most of the equipment at our Richmond Terminal Station to incorporate the latest technology.

Project Progress

To date significant changes have taken place at the Richmond Terminal Station with two of the three new buildings (220kV switch building and 22kV switch building) now completed including new facades. The construction of the third, the new 66kV building situated near the eastern end of Allan Bain Reserve, is still in progress.

This building will be completed during 2017 with the same façade as the 22kV building.

These new buildings contain the compact Gas Insulated Switchgear. As each building is completed, and the new switchgear installed, we can then remove the old outdoor switchgear. Some demolition of the old switchgear has already occurred and more will be removed as the project progresses.

Landscaping of Mary Street

We have received approval from the City of Yarra to landscape the Mary Street nature strip in front of our site. This involves planting native shrubs from north to south and installing a walking path and pram ramp linking the McConchie and Allan Bain reserves.

Our planting is being undertaken in stages:

  • Stage 1: planting and path installation to the south of our entrance, which is now complete.
  • Stage 2: planting to the north of our entrance, according to our landscaping schedule.
