If you’re a large business customer, our critical peak demand (CPD) tariff program provides the opportunity to reduce your electricity costs by limiting use on “peak days”.
Our CPD tariff applies if your electricity use is more than 160 megawatt hours (MWh) per annum, and you’re on one of the following annual tariffs:
For more information about our CPD tariff program, please call us on 1300 451 331.
Each year we nominate five CPD days and calculate your critical peak demand charge based on the average maximum kVA recorded on the five nominated peak demand weekdays during 3:00-7:00pm AEDT (i.e. 'daylight savings time’). This will form the ‘demand – critical peak component’ of your tariff for the next 12 months.
Our nominated CPD days occur from 1 December to 31 March and coincide with extreme temperatures or consecutive days of hot weather.
On these CPD days, we encourage our customers to minimise electricity use or seek alternative supply sources.
AusNet Services will notify you of nominated CPD days by SMS message. To register for these SMS notifications, please send your national meter identifier (NMI) reference number(s) by SMS to 0418 176 593.
Our SMS notifications will advise you of the following:
For more information about potential and declared CPD days, please also check our Current CPD schedule below.
NOTE: due to changing weather conditions, potential CPD days may not always become declared CPD days.
