Heat relief package

What is the Victorian Heat Relief Package?

As a special measure, electricity network businesses across Victoria are providing a one-off heat relief payment to a limited number of eligible Victorians who were most affected by extended electricity outages on Sunday 28 January.

The very rare combination of extreme humidity and heat on the day saw unprecedented levels of demand in parts of the electricity network, and as a result Victoria encountered some extended outages.

AusNet Services prides itself on managing a safe and reliable electricity network, and being able to move energy where it’s needed most, when it’s needed most. We recognise the impact that electricity outages can have on our customers, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused during these events. As part of our commitment to customer service, AusNet Services is making a special one-off heat relief payment to those who experienced outages of three hours or more on Sunday 28 January 2018.

How is the payment calculated?

  • Customers who were off supply between 3 and 20 hours on 28 January will receive $80
  • Customers who were off supply between 20 and 30 hours on 28 January will receive $120
  • Customers who were off supply for more than 30 hours on 28 January will receive $180

How do I know if I am eligible?

AusNet Services will be contacting all eligible customers directly in regards to their payment. The payment will be sent directly to them in the form of a cheque before the end of February.
