How to take control of your energy bill

There are many easy things you can do to save energy and money at home. We’ve partnered with Consumer Policy Research (CPRC) so you can control your energy bill as part of the Energy Simplified program*.

* This program is in partnership with the Victorian Government, Ellis Jones and CISVic in 2019.

Are you missing out on energy concessions?

Today, many people are facing increasing energy prices and other cost-of-living pressures; however, around 40% of people who are eligible for ongoing concessions are not taking them up.

Do you, or someone you know, have a Commonwealth concession card such as a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, Centrelink HealthCare Card or Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card?

Then you may be missing out on energy concessions that are yours.

So, how do you get what's yours?

  1. Check if concessions should be applied to your bills.
  2. Make sure you have your retailer’s best offer or find a better deal on the Victorian Energy Compare website.
  3. Make sure to match the weather and follow tips to keep warm and stay cool, whilst staying comfortable.
  4. If you’re having trouble paying your bill, contact the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 or go to ndh.org.au.
