For a home – either a single or multiple dwelling, a dwelling intended for or used domestically. This can also be used for Residential multiple unit developments.
If you’re connecting power for the first time, upgrading existing electricity supply, or relocating or removing an asset such as a pole, service cable, underground service pit or a Private Electrical Overhead Line (POEL) / Private Aerial Line (PAL) at a home, this application is the right one for you.
Our online Connection Cost Calculator tool is available to assist you with your application.
For an indicative price for a new connection, select the Preliminary Estimate option on the application. Preliminary Estimates are indicative, meaning the price generated is an office-based assessment. A Preliminary Estimate is valid for 30 days and has an upfront, non-refundable* fee.
*Note: Preliminary Estimate fees paid are not refundable, however, will be deducted from the cost of the electricity supply works if you proceed with the proposal.
For a fixed price for a new connection, select the Firm Offer option on the application. Firm Offers are fixed, meaning the price generated is inclusive of the proposed works and contract.
A Firm Offer is valid for 60 days and has an upfront, non-refundable* fee.
*Note: Firm Offer fees paid are non-refundable, however, will be deducted from the cost of the electricity supply works if you proceed with the proposal.
If the property is being subdivided, you must provide a plan of subdivision along with your application. Architectural or building site plans are not acceptable. You must also provide the location of electricity supply arrangements of existing dwellings. E.g. Existing Service connection route, meter position etc.
Note: If you are intending to subdivide the property or you are in the process of subdividing, please select Subdivision and attach your proposed plan of subdivision in the Upload document section.
Existing & Proposed Equipment
Estimate as accurately as possible the amount of electricity supply (in kilowatts or horsepower) you plan to use. It is critical that we know if you’re installing Floor Heating, Air Conditioning or any other high load equipment. Our design is based upon your information and requirements.
Property Sketch
Please sketch your property to help us identify where you want your electricity supply. If it is a large rural property, you must detail the exact location (measurements & pole numbers) and all other buildings and objects. Fences will be assumed to be the property boundary unless otherwise indicated.
Note: An aerial photograph of your property may be available at no cost on the internet or via your estate agent or local council.
Pole Numbers
Please provide the pole number and the distance of the power pole closest to your property. The pole number is generally on a strip of plastic or aluminium attached to the pole at eye level and between 4 and 10 digits in length. Providing us with a clear photograph of the pole numbers will ensure accuracy and avoid delays.
How long does it take to get connected?
The time frame to connect power is determined by a number of factors including our works schedule and activities such as surveying and obtaining necessary permits and approval from councils and other authorities. Indicative timeframes may be provided; however a more specific timeframe will be provided once the extent of works and other arrangements are finalised.
Please advise us if you think a new power line may need to cross your neighbour’s property. If known, please provide the neighbour’s contact details.
Please contact your Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) if you are unsure about your Electrical Loading requirement.
